Sunday School

At St. John’s, we believe that young people are vital members of our community.  Just like adults, children and youth need opportunities to worship, grow in faith, enjoy fellowship, and reach out in service to others.  Because we know how important parents and other caring adults are to the faith development of young people, our programs emphasize building relationships between faithful and capable adults and growing in faith together.  If you have questions or need more information about how to get involved, please contact Pastor Paul Markquart or Jen Kooistra, Director of Youth, Family and Education Ministries.

Sunday School begins on Sunday, September 9th at 9:15am in the Friendship Room where the entire family will gather together.  Volunteers will introduce themselves and gather their class together and then escort them to their Sunday school rooms.  Parents will remain in the Friendship Room for a Parent Meeting and to finish the registration process.  Around 10:15, parents will be dismissed to go meet the volunteers in their children’s classrooms and hear any information that is pertinent to just that class.  A friendly reminder: there is no food in the bottom level of St. John’s, so please don’t send your child with a donut or snacks.  Thank you.

Registration will be done mainly online this year.  If you have not received an emailed invitation to join St. John’s online community, please contact the church office.  Details for completing the profile/registration can be found in the middle of the Youth General Information Page

Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, Sunday School meets from 9:15am to 10:15am between worship services.

On the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, the Education Hour is designed for EVERYONE – all ages and stages – and takes place in the Friendship Room (aka the gym). The 1st and 3rd Sundays are GIFT (Generations In Faith Together) because all generations have gifts we need and all generations have needs we gift.   The 2nd and 4th (and 5th) Sundays are traditional Sunday School. Youth from PreK-6th grade meet in the Sanctuary for Opening before separating into their classes by age/grade.
