2019 Sunday School Information for Parents

It’s that time of year. Temperatures are cooling off, the first trees are starting to turn colors, and school is on the mind of all parents. I hope Sunday School is on your mind, too.
I’m very excited to invite you to attend our Rally Day on Sunday, September 15th from 9:15-10:15amin the Friendship Room (or outside if the weather cooperates). We’ll have games, snacks, and registration during that time. Come for as long or as short of a time as you’d like. Be sure to check in with the OnRealm desk though so that we can register your child(ren) for Sunday School.
We are still looking for high schoolers or adults to lead 2nd grade Sunday School and adults for 6th grade and our confirmation classes during Education Hour on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month. Please prayerfully consider joining the amazing team that teaches the children and youth at St. John’s.
If your child will be starting the PreK Sunday School class, plan to meet with me on Sunday, September 8th, in the Friendship Room, for a special God’s Work. Our Hands at 9:15am. We will tour the Sunday School rooms and find your child’s lamb on the back wall of the sanctuary. The Little Lamb Milestone, which welcomes children into Sunday School, will be held on Sunday, September 15th.
All parents of Sunday School children are requested to attend a parent meeting on Sunday, September 22nd. Please come to the Friendship Room with your child(ren) and join in our Opening! Then, when the children head to class, we’ll have our meeting. There will be a listening session that Sunday, too, regarding the Capital Campaign. If you can plan to attend the listening session on Wednesday, September 11th, that would be best. If you can’t attend on Wed., perhaps one parent could attend the Sunday School parent meeting and one could attend the listening session. (Both could attend the listening session at 9:15 and then one could join us in the Friendship Room at 9:45am.)
There will be a congregational meeting on Sunday, September 29th. Since all “official” members of St. John’s who have communed with and contributed to St. John’s are requested to be in attendance, we will not have regular Sunday School on September 29th. If you are not a member of St. John’s and would be interested in supervising activities for the children of those who attend the meeting, please let me know. I can arrange for activities, but we need adults to supervise them.
You will receive a full calendar for the fall at the Sunday School Parent Meeting. But, mark your calendars now for the Sunday School Christmas Program on Sunday, December 15th and let all your family know. It will be presented during our 10:30 worship service that morning. More details to follow.
